More Than a Barn. A Place Where Riders Become Horsemen

At Skyline Farms, we don't just teach riding, we build character, confidence, and a lifelong connection to the horse.

Our Story

Skyline Farms was founded on a single conviction: that great horsemanship is not an accident it is built, lesson by lesson, through intentional education, honest feedback, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

We are an equestrian education facility dedicated to developing riders and horsemen of real substance. Whether you are stepping into the arena for the first time or preparing for your next level of competition, Skyline offers a structured, high-standard program designed to take you further than you thought possible.

This is not recreational riding. This is a purposeful equestrian education one that teaches you not only how to ride, but how to think, communicate, and lead with clarity both in and out of the saddle.

Meet Carey Stewart Founder & Head Instructor

Carey Stewart is the foundation on which Skyline Farms is built. With more than two decades of hands-on experience in the equine industry, Carey brings a rare combination of academic achievement and real-world mastery to every lesson she teaches.

Academic Credentials:

  • Master’s Degree in Equine Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Equine Industries & Business (Minor in Animal Science)
  • Associate’s Degree in Equine Technology

Carey has served as a collegiate professor within accredited equine programs, shaping the next generation of equine professionals at the university level. That same academic rigor and structured approach to education is the backbone of every program at Skyline.

Industry Experience: Carey is a Open Show Judge, officiating competitions in Western, Hunter Under Saddle, Non-Trotting, and Saddle Seat divisions across North Carolina and multiple states nationwide. Her judging background gives her a refined, competition-level eye for correctness, technical detail, and true horsemanship standards   insight she brings directly into the instruction she provides her students.

Throughout her career, Carey has mentored riders who have gone on to build successful careers as trainers, instructors, breeders, boarding facility owners, and show professionals. She doesn’t just teach riders to ride   she prepares them for longevity and leadership in the equine industry.

Therapeutic & Youth Development: Carey has extensive experience working within therapeutic riding and at-risk youth initiatives. She is currently pursuing her PATH (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship) certification, deepening Skyline’s commitment to inclusive, transformative horsemanship for riders of all abilities and backgrounds.

Our Philosophy

At Skyline, we believe that the horse is the greatest teacher   and our job is to prepare every student to meet that teacher with respect, knowledge, and skill.

We teach across multiple disciplines   Ranch, Trail, Dressage, Hunter Under Saddle, Hunter Over Fences, and Western   in both AQHA and USEF styles. This breadth ensures that every student builds a comprehensive, versatile foundation rather than a narrow, one-dimensional skill set.
Our program is built on four pillars:

Integrity

We are honest with our students about where they are and what it takes to get where they want to go.

Excellence

We hold a high standard, not because perfection is the goal, but because pursuing it builds the character that defines great horsemen.

Respect

For the horse, for the craft, and for the process of learning.

Purpose

Every lesson, every session, every interaction is intentional. We don't waste your time or your horse's trust.
